A Karachi based company just showcased what could be a real answer for Pakistan’s remote, off grid areas, an all in one portable power system that runs entirely on solar and normal AC charging.
Reel DTS visited EV Expo in Karachi on 04 September 2026, where the team caught up with Syed Muhammad Mudassar Hassan Zaidi, a project engineer at Sustainable Energies. The company focuses on natural, renewable ways of generating power, and it’s putting real weight behind its research and development side.
The product on display was their LN1 Portable System, and it’s built to handle more than one job at once. There’s a USB port for charging phones a built-in emergency light and a 220 volt output for standard appliances. It also supports DC output directly for fans and lights, something that matters a lot in areas without stable grid electricity.
Charging works two ways. Users can connect a solar panel, or plug into a regular 12volt AC power source. Zaidi walked through how the solar panel setup works too, explaining what wattage panel would be needed depending on how much backup power someone actually needs.
There’s also a separate power bank component built to work alongside main unit giving users additional backup when needed. Zaidi said whole system is fully customizable, meaning customers can request a bigger battery bank if their situation calls for more backup time.

Asked about thinking behind the design, Zaidi said it’s entirely Pakistani made developed with real research behind it. He specifically pointed to camping use cases situations where there’s no power source nearby, as one factor that shaped the design. But the bigger motivation, he said is Pakistan’s remote areas mountainous regions riverine areas the Thal desert or Tharparkar in Sindh, places where electricity either doesn’t exist or remains unreliable.
In terms of actual performance, Zaidi said the built in battery can run two DC fans and two DC lights for roughly two hours on a single charge. That backup time scales up if a customer opts for a larger battery configuration.
Sustainable Energies isn’t limiting itself to portable units either. At their expo stand, the company also displayed a wind turbine setup they’re currently testing at their own office, where they’re actively collecting performance data and readings.

Speaking at the expo, company founder and Chief of Technology Abis Hussain said Sustainable Energies is putting serious focus on R&D to bring modern technology driven energy solutions to Pakistan. He said the company’s core goal is generating alternative sources of electricity domestically and offering a sustainable answer to the country’s ongoing energy crisis through modern methods.
Syeda Zeenat, Assistant to the CTO and HR Manager at the company, added that the need of the hour is for people to shift toward newer forms of energy and use natural resources responsibly. She said the company wants to see wider public adoption of wind and solar energy specifically, to help make affordable, alternative power more accessible across the country.
